We are immensely happy and proud to communicate that Thursday till Sunday  has just received a Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012, which means a great international recognition. The three identical Tiger Awards are chosen by the jury, and are given to the best films of the Tiger Awards competition, the most important section of the festival. The award consists in € 15,000 for each one of the winners. 

This was the jury’s verdict:

“In focus, this film is a very precise and gentle depiction of the intimate space of a family. We are captured in a journey seen through a child’s perspective, and recall the moments of our own childhood, at the same time experiencing and understanding all the complexities that adult life entails. The minimalistic story is revealed through the fresh angles of the camerawork. A gentle piece, rich with sensitive observations.”

The other two Tiger Awards went to Egg and Stone by Huang Ji, y Clip, by Maja Milos.

In Cinestación we are very happy and honored to announce that Late to die young, Dominga Sotomayor’s new feature film project, has just received the Sundance Institute / Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award, that recognizes the work from independent filmmakers around the world.

This consists in US$ 10.000 for the project’s development, and the support from Sundance Institute during this process. The awards were given today in Park City, United States, and also include projects from South Africa, Australia and India.

Thursday till Sunday already has all its screening times for Rotterdam.

We can finally announce that Thursday till Sunday will have its World Premiere in the  Official Competition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012 (Tiger Awards Competition).

The first feature by both Dominga Sotomayor and Cinestación has been noted like this by the curatorial team:

“Sotomayor’s feature film début, expertly shot by Barbara Alvarez, is a Chilean road movie set in and around the car belonging to a middle-class family. Seen through eyes of the kids in the back, they embark on a four day holiday trip to the north, while the marriage is falling apart. Dominga Sotomayor’s short film Videojuego was screened in Rotterdam in 2010. De jueves a domingo was selected for the Cannes Cinéfondation Résidence 2010.”
